Full size 4x4s and UTVs set to enjoy a week of fun activities at Trail Hero

September 6, 2019, Hurricane, UT–For the first time in history both UTVs and full size 4x4s are going to attend an event that celebrates all things 4wheel drive at the Fourth Annual Trail Hero in Hurricane, UT!

This year’s event is even more action packed than before, and extended to a week of fun, adventure, and memories!  Having the UTVs join Trail Hero for the first time for all the fun filled action is an awesome accomplishment. “What it all boils down to is we are all here to recreate in a 4WD capable vehicle. One goes faster than the other. So we kept that in mind and all UTV trails leave before our full size trails.” explains Rich Klein, President of Trail Hero.

Keith Hook from UTV Sports Magazine has been key with bringing in the UTV industry and attendees. “This year is exciting! We are taking everything that the Trail Hero event has figured out and inserting the power sports industry into it, and its going to be a fun event. We’ve added a UTV race, UTV specific activities in the afteroon on Thursday, and are really looking forward to the comroderie.” Stated Keith. A huge portion of getting the powersports industry integrated is EFX Tire coming on board as the title sponsor of the UTV event.

Kicking off on Monday 9/30/19 is Füry Rode, the Adventure Challenge that sends contestants on a 40 mile lap to be run twice. Each lap contestants have to complete 5 challenges along the way within the 15 minute allotment per challenge. Challenges include a short course, dead winch, potato spearing, paintball shooting, wet lap and so much more! Tuesday is the Rockin Golf Tournament with Carbon Off Road. This is played on the Links Course at Sand Hollow Resort, and yes, your team must to dress up in a theme.  Three challenges await after you play the 9-hole tournament, and they include a chipping contest through a set of tires, longest drive hit Happy Gilmore Style, and a blind putting challenge. At 6PM the Kickoff Party for the event happens at Sand Hollow Off Road where registration is open for participants and media.  Wednesday – Saturday morning the guided trails start from various locations around town and at from Sand Hollow State Park. At 2PM each day the afternoon activities start which includes a Lasernut Rock Race on Wednesday, the Trail Gear Rock Crawl plus Tuff Country Bounty Hill and the Raceline Beach bash are on Thursday , the Fab Fours Trail Breaker is on Friday and the Vendor Expo in Downtown Hurricane is Saturday complete with a parade for the buggies back to Sand Hollow!  If that is not enough fun – each night on the beach at Sand Hollow State Park we are having a bon fire!

“This is our fourth year for Trail Hero and we continue to cater to our people with Special Needs and our Veterans though our Hero for a Day non-profit, with both groups having a trail ride for them, where we provide an open seat for anyone of Special Needs or anyone who is a Veteran can join us. This year on Wednesday’s Special Needs Access Run we meet at Lonny Boy’s BBQ for breakfast, which is provided by Lonny Boy’s for anyone on the trail. We head out to West Rim and enjoy the scenery and flora and fauna as we overlook the valley and Arizona Strip. West Rim winds through some cool hoodoos so we will stop and check out some geology, and then have lunch thanks to BFGoodrich Tires, and then head back for the Lasernut Rock Race.  Thursday we focus on the Veterans with the Veterans Access Run on a new trail called The Fallen, which each obstacle on the trail is dedicated to a foreign conflict and those we have lost during it. It is rated a 9 with a lite trail next to it rated a 5.  Both the Special Needs Access Run and the Veterans Access Run are free to anyone that are in either group.” explains Rich Klein.

Valerie Douglas, Media Director of Trail Hero explains why this event is important for all user groups within the off-road industry, “We have a mission with Trail Hero. It is to keep our public lands public. We have been fighting to keep Sand Mountain out of the hands of developers for years, and we can finally say it has taken a HUGE step in the right direction! As of August 29, 2019, the first payment to the developer from the BLM to swap his property in protected Desert Tortoise habitat has been made and his land swap is not on Sand Mountain, but instead on the other side of Long Valley near where the new reservoir will be. This is great news to anyone using Sand Mountain and Sand Hollow! This is something to celebrate, and we will do so vigorously this year at Trail Hero!”

2019 Trail Hero will have 80 trails combined for UTV and full size vehicles to choose from over 4 days of the event. All guided by our amazing volunteers from across the country! Of course, none of this would be possible without our sponsors and partners to the event: Nitto Tire, EFX Tire, Monster Energy, Fab Fours Bumpers, Raceline Wheels, Lasernut, Tuff Country Suspension, GenRight Off Road, Trail Gear, Carbon Offroad, J.M.
